Automated Proctoring will not allow students to start their exam if the time remaining to exam close is less than the duration of the exam. Automated Proctoring adds a 30-minute technical support buffer to the duration of the exam. This buffer only affects the last possible moment a student can start onboarding and it does not adjust their allotted maximum duration in SmarterProctoring or the LMS.
Example:Exam Open: June 13th, 2021 1:00 PM
Exam Close: June 15th, 2021 5:00 PM
Duration of exam: 2 hrs
Because the duration of this exam is 2 hours and Automated Proctoring adds a 30-minute buffer, the latest that a student would be able to start this exam would be June 15th, 2021 2:30 PM.We do not recommend exams with an open window for less than 24 hours.
- Do your best not to edit exam details within 24 hours of the testing window.
- If you are offering your students a .PDF or URL as a permitted item, be sure to disable the “Force Full Screen” and “Disable New Tabs” buttons from the Automated Proctoring Settings page.
- Make sure that the exam is not TOO STRICT for the assessment you are giving, but ensure that proper settings are enabled to monitor the student as desired.
- While providing bathroom breaks is an option with AutomatedProctoring, we do not recommend them, especially for high-stakes exams.
